My new car...

I've got a list of cars that I want to own sometime in my life. A BMW 3-series from before they became the overweight, oversized cars they are now is on that list. Others I'd like to have include a vintage Ferrari, a 3rd-gen RX-7, probably some kind of Porsche, etc. I don't need to buy them new, though in the case of Ferrarris, they seem to just get more expensive as they get older.

So the Subaru engine project is going well and I've got all the parts of a new engine in my trunk. The easy part is just bolting it all together, or at least I really really hope it is. But that means I'm closer to the point where I need something else to drive as a daily driver. And since the Subaru can do double-duty as the practical winter car for snowy days, I decided to start on the above list of cars I should own at some point.

Perhaps more importantly, I'm back to a black car with a stick and a sunroof, which is a formula that served me well with my first car (1991 Mazda 626 LX) and my second car (2003 Mitsubishi Lancer OZ). This 1992 BMW 325i is great fun to drive so far. It's got a few eccentricities with the power windows I'll need to address and the stereo coming out of the Subaru should mostly fit right into it soon enough.

How's it do in the snow?

It's not terrible, but I take the Subaru if it's actively snowing. It's only got all-seasons on it, so I don't have any desire to take it out in the snow. Next year, I'll get some proper snow tires on it and probably drive it in the snow more confidently.
